Etymology
أَحْضَر is the Form IV (causative) verb from the Semitic root ḥ-ḍ-r, which carries the idea of being present or settled. The basic verb حَضَرَ means 'to be present', and the causative augment turns it into 'to cause to be present', that is, to bring or fetch. The same root gives حُضُور 'presence' and حَضارة 'civilization', the settled life of towns. Arabic is a Semitic language and has no Proto-Indo-European root.
