Etymology

أَمْيَل comes from the triliteral Semitic root م-ي-ل (m-y-l), which carries the sense of leaning or tilting to one side. The verb مالَ يَميلُ means "to lean, tend, incline." Adding the أ- prefix to this root produces the elative (comparative/superlative) pattern أفعل, giving أَمْيَل, "more inclined."
