Etymology
بارِحَة comes from the Semitic root b-r-ḥ, which carries the sense of departing, leaving, or ceasing. The word is the feminine active participle, literally 'the departing one,' and was first applied to the night that has just gone. From 'the night that has left' it came to mean 'last night,' and by extension 'yesterday.'
