Etymology
تَحَرَّك comes from the Semitic root ح-ر-ك, which carries the idea of movement and motion. It is the Form V (تَفَعَّل) verb, the reflexive counterpart of Form II حَرَّك, 'to move something.' The added تـ turns the action back on the subject, so the verb means to move on one's own or to be set in motion. The same root gives حَرَكة, 'movement,' a word used across physics, politics, and daily speech.
