Etymology
تحريك is the verbal noun (masdar) of the Form II verb حرّك (harraka), meaning to make something move. The base root ح-ر-ك carries the sense of motion or movement in Arabic. Form II adds a causative sense, so حرّك means to cause to move, and تحريك is the noun for that act.
