Etymology
رَحِيل is the verbal noun of the verb رَحَلَ, to depart or set off. It comes from the Semitic triconsonantal root ر-ح-ل, which carries the sense of travel and breaking camp. The same root gives رِحْلَة, a journey, and رَاحِلَة, the riding camel one travels on. The word names the act of leaving itself rather than the trip.
