Etymology
سِيرَة comes from the Semitic root س-ي-ر (s-y-r), whose verb سار means to travel, walk, or proceed. The noun pattern turns that idea of movement into an abstract noun: a manner of proceeding through life. Over time this settled into the meaning of conduct, and then into the modern sense of a written account of a life.
