Etymology
فَحَص comes from the Semitic triliteral root ف-ح-ص (f-ḥ-ṣ), which carries the core sense of probing or scrutinizing something closely. The verb form is one of the oldest and most stable in Classical Arabic, appearing in early texts with the same meaning it has today. Arabic is a Semitic language, not Indo-European, so it has no Proto-Indo-European root or Western cognates.
