Etymology
مُواصَلَة is the verbal noun of the Form III verb واصَلَ, built on the Semitic root و-ص-ل (w-ṣ-l), which carries the core idea of connecting, joining, or arriving. Form III typically marks an action carried out with or toward another party, so واصَلَ came to mean keeping something going, often together with someone else, and مُواصَلَة is the noun for that ongoing act. Because Arabic is a Semitic language, it has no Indo-European root and no PIE ancestor.
