Βρεί is the third-person singular dependent form of the verb βρίσκω, "to find." It descends from Ancient Greek εὑρίσκω (heuriskō), whose aorist stem εὑρ-/ηὑρ- lost its initial vowel over time and became the modern stem βρ-. The deeper origin of εὑρίσκω is disputed among etymologists, and some regard it as a pre-Greek borrowing rather than an inherited Indo-European word.
