Etymology
A Modern Greek colloquial adverb formed by univerbation of κι (the elided form of the conjunction και, 'and') with όλα ('everything', the neuter plural of όλος, 'whole/all') plus a final adverbial -ς. The literal sense 'and all' was reanalyzed to express 'already' and 'even/as well', conveying that something applies or has occurred more fully or sooner than expected. It became fixed as a single word in medieval/early Modern Greek.
