Etymology

Μυρωδιά comes from μυρίζω, the verb for smelling or giving off a scent, joined with the suffix -ωδιά that forms abstract nouns of quality or state. That verb traces back to μύρον, the ancient word for scented oil or myrrh, which most scholars treat as a loan from a Semitic word for myrrh rather than native Greek vocabulary. Because the root entered Greek from another language family, no Indo-European ancestor can be given for it.
