Etymology
Ξεκούραση is built from the prefix ξε-, which marks removal or reversal, and κούραση, the noun for tiredness. Κούραση itself traces back to the verb κουράζω, which Byzantine Greek borrowed from Latin curare, to take care of or attend to something. Over time the sense shifted from the effort of caring for something to the fatigue that effort causes. So ξεκούραση literally undoes that fatigue: it is the state of tiredness lifted.
