Etymology
Ούτε comes from Ancient Greek οὔτε, a fusion of the negative particle οὐ (not) and the connective τε (and). Together they formed a single word meaning roughly and not, used to link negated items. The word survived largely unchanged in sound and function through Koine and into Modern Greek.
