Etymology
Ευχαριστία comes from the ancient verb ευχαριστέω, built on the adjective ευχάριστος, meaning pleasing or grateful. That adjective joins εὖ, meaning well or good, with χάρις, meaning grace or favor. In Christian Greek the word also came to name the sacrament of thanksgiving, the Eucharist.
