Etymology
Περαιτέρω is built on the ancient stem περα- (seen in πέρα, 'beyond') with the old comparative adverbial ending -ιτέρω, the same pattern found in πορρωτέρω ('further off'). It originally meant 'further, more to the far side' in Ancient Greek. Today it survives mainly in formal and official Modern Greek.
