Etymology
Πράμα is the everyday spoken contraction of πράγμα, the standard Modern Greek word for 'thing'. Πράγμα in turn comes from Ancient Greek πρᾶγμα, meaning 'deed' or 'matter', built on the verb πράσσω, 'to do' or 'to act'. In casual speech, the consonant cluster -γμ- wears down to a plain -μ-, a common simplification in colloquial Modern Greek.
