Etymology
Συγκεντρώνω is built from the prefix συν- (together, with), which becomes συγ- before a following γ or κ, and the verb κεντρώνω, formed from κέντρο (center). The compound literally means to bring things together toward one center. The deeper origin of κέντρο is debated: many linguists treat it, like κεντέω (to prick, goad), as a word of uncertain, possibly Pre-Greek origin rather than one with a firm Indo-European root.
