Etymology
Derived from φυσιολογία ('physiology'), itself a compound of φύσις ('nature') and -λογία ('study, account'), plus the adjective-forming suffix -ικός. It originally meant 'pertaining to the study of nature/the body' and, through medical usage, came to mean 'within the body's natural range', hence everyday 'normal'. φύσις ultimately goes back to the verb φύω 'to grow, bring forth'.
