Etymology
Όποιον is the masculine accusative singular of όποιος, which comes from Ancient Greek ὁποῖος, meaning of what sort or kind. That word combines the relative pronoun stem ὁ- with ποῖος, meaning what kind. Modern Greek kept the form as an all-purpose relative and indefinite pronoun for people and things alike.
