Etymology
Îndrepta is built from the prefix în- ("into, to make") added to drept ("straight, right") plus the infinitive ending -a. Drept itself comes from Latin directus, past participle of dirigere, "to arrange in a line, to direct". The verb therefore literally means "to make straight" and later widened to cover correcting faults and heading in a direction.
