Etymology

Complet comes from French complet, which in turn descends from Latin completus, the past participle of complere, meaning to fill up. The Latin verb is built from com- (together, thoroughly) and plere (to fill). Romanian took the word through French influence during the nineteenth-century modernization of its vocabulary.
