Etymology
Corp comes from Latin corpus, corporis, meaning body. Romanian kept the core sense of a physical body while extending it, much as Latin did, to cover a mass or section of something, such as a wing of a building or an organized group of people. The word entered Romanian as part of the large layer of learned and semi-learned Latin-based vocabulary, alongside earlier inherited forms.
