Etymology
Habar entered Romanian from Turkish haber, meaning news or information, during the centuries of Ottoman influence in the region. The Turkish word itself goes back to Arabic khabar, also meaning news or report. In Romanian the word narrowed almost entirely to one fixed pattern, habar n-am, where it lost its original sense of news and came to mean having no clue at all.
