Etymology

Romanian borrowed "a realiza" from French "réaliser" in the nineteenth century, part of a wave of French vocabulary that reshaped modern Romanian. The French verb itself was built from "réel" (real), which traces to Late Latin "realis", from "res" (thing, matter). The Romanian verb kept both French senses: to make something happen and to become aware of something.
