Etymology
Sară is a regional pronunciation of the standard Romanian word seară, evening, found chiefly in Moldavian and Oltenian rural speech and in folk song. Seară descends from Latin sera, the feminine form of serus, late, used as a noun for the late part of the day. The shift from seară to sară reflects a local leveling of the ea diphthong to a plain a, a common feature of several Romanian regional dialects.
