Etymology
Romanian borrowed "talent" from French "talent", which traces back to Latin "talentum" and ultimately Greek "τάλαντον" (talanton), a unit of weight and money. The modern sense of natural ability comes from the biblical parable of the talents in the Gospel of Matthew, where servants are entrusted with sums of money to invest. Over time the word shifted from a measure of currency to a measure of inborn skill.
