Etymology
Temporar entered Romanian from French temporaire, itself from Latin temporarius, an adjective built on tempus, temporis, meaning time. The word reached Romanian as part of a wave of French-based vocabulary that modernized the language in the 19th century. It kept the sense of the Latin original: lasting only for a limited time.
