Etymology

تَحْضِير is the verbal noun of the Form II verb حَضَّرَ, which means to prepare or make ready. That verb is built on the triliteral root ح ض ر, whose base sense is presence or being at hand, as in حَضَرَ, to be present or to attend. Form II adds a causative shade, so حَضَّرَ means to cause something to be present and ready, and تَحْضِير names that act: preparation. Arabic is a Semitic language, so it has no Indo-European root here.
