Etymology

Arabic borrowed تِكْنُولُوجِيا directly from English "technology" in the twentieth century, as part of a wave of scientific and industrial vocabulary entering the language during modernization. English technology itself descends from Greek tekhnología, a compound of tékhnē, meaning craft or skill, and lógos, meaning study or reasoned account. Arabic kept the foreign shape almost unchanged rather than coining a fully native equivalent, though the parallel term تقنية exists and is built from an Arabic root.
