Etymology
جَرَّب is the Form II verb built on the Semitic triconsonantal root ج-ر-ب. Form II doubles the middle radical and usually marks a deliberate or intensive action, here the act of putting something to the test. The same root yields the everyday noun تَجْرِبة, meaning an experiment or a lived experience.
