Etymology
فاسِد (fāsid) is the active participle of the verb فَسَدَ (fasada), meaning to spoil, decay, or become corrupt. The root ف-س-د is a native Semitic root found throughout Arabic, with no borrowing from other language families. From this root Arabic also builds فَساد (fasād, corruption) and أَفْسَدَ (afsada, to corrupt something), covering both the physical sense of decay and the moral or legal sense of corruption.
