Etymology
The word comes from the triliteral root ع-ج-ب, which carries the sense of wonder and amazement. It is the passive participle of the form IV verb أَعْجَبَ, to please or delight. A person who is مُعْجَب has, literally, been pleased or made to admire. Modern usage settles this into 'impressed by' or 'a fan of'.
