Etymology

Modern Greek πού (where) continues Ancient Greek ποῦ, the interrogative adverb of place, itself a fossilized case form of the interrogative stem πο-. This stem goes back to the Proto-Indo-European interrogative/relative pronoun root, which also produced the parallel τι-/τίς series and the relatives of many other branches.
