Etymology
Προβολή comes from the verb προβάλλω, itself built from the prefix προ- ("forward, before") and βάλλω ("to throw"). The suffix -ή turns the verb into an abstract noun of action, so the word literally names the act of throwing something forward. Greek later extended that image to light thrown onto a screen, a product pushed into public view, or rock jutting into the sea.
