Etymology
Όχημα comes from ancient Greek ὄχημα, built on the verb ὀχέω, 'to carry, to bear along.' That verb goes back to a root meaning 'to convey by wheeled transport.' The same root gave Latin vehere, the source of the English word 'vehicle' itself. So the Greek and English words for 'vehicle' are true cousins, not just similar by chance.
