Etymology
The word combines the prefix τρι- (from περί, meaning around) with γύρω, the common adverb for around, itself from γύρος, a circle or turn. Together they intensify the sense of encirclement, meaning all around or on every side. The doubling of the around-sense is typical of how Modern Greek builds emphatic spatial adverbs.
