Etymology
Răzgândi is built from the verb a gândi, to think, with the prefix răz-, a variant of răs-, borrowed from Slavic raz-. That prefix marks reversal or repetition, so the verb literally means to rethink, and by extension, to change one's mind. The root gând itself has a disputed origin; Romanian dictionaries do not trace it back to Latin, and some treat it as a substrate or old borrowing rather than a native Latin word. Because of that uncertainty, no reliable Proto-Indo-European root can be given.
