Etymology
Supărat is the past participle of the verb a supăra, meaning to upset or to bother. That verb traces back to Latin superare, which meant to overcome or to surpass. Over time the sense narrowed in Romanian from overcoming someone to troubling or vexing them, and the participle came to mean simply upset or annoyed.
