Etymology
The word comes from the Semitic root ص-د-ر (ṣ-d-r), which carries the core sense of coming out or emanating from a source. The base verb صَدَرَ means simply to emanate or originate. أَصْدَر is the causative Form IV of that root, so it means to cause something to come out, hence to issue, publish, or export.
