Etymology
خَرَّب comes from the triliteral Semitic root خ ر ب (kh-r-b), which carries the sense of ruin or desolation. In Form I, خَرِبَ means to be or become ruined. Form II, خَرَّب, doubles the middle radical to form a causative: to make something ruined, that is, to destroy it. The same root gives Arabic خَراب (ruin) and مُخَرِّب (saboteur).
