Etymology
The verb comes from the triliteral Arabic root ط-ل-ب (ṭ-l-b), which carries the sense of seeking, asking, or requesting. طالَب is the Form III derivation of the basic verb طَلَب (to ask, to request). The Form III pattern adds force and direction: not merely to ask for something, but to press a claim on someone for it.
