مَشْرِق comes from the Arabic root ش ر ق (sh-r-q), whose base verb شَرَقَ means to rise or shine, said of the sun. مَشْرِق is a noun of place built on the pattern مَفْعِل, so it literally names the location where the rising happens. Arabic is a Semitic language, not Indo-European, so it has no Proto-Indo-European root.
