Etymology
Έκφραση comes from ancient Greek ἔκφρασις, built from the prefix ἐκ- (out) and the verb φράζειν (to point out, to tell, to declare). In classical rhetoric, ekphrasis meant a vivid verbal description of something, often a work of art. In modern Greek the word broadened to cover expression in general, whether a facial look, an idea, or a phrase.
