Etymology

Romanian borrowed the verb "a aranja" from French "arranger" during the nineteenth-century push to re-Latinize and modernize the language's vocabulary. The form "aranjă" is not a separate word: it is the third-person singular of the simple past (perfectul simplu), built by adding the native Romanian ending "-ă" to the borrowed stem "aranj-". French "arranger" itself goes back to "ranger" (to put in a row), from "rang" (rank, row), a word of Germanic origin.
