Word family
Etymology
حالِم is the active participle of the verb حَلَمَ, 'to dream', built on the triliteral root ح-ل-م. The same root gives حُلْم, 'a dream', and also the separate sense حِلْم, 'forbearance'. The dreaming sense has clear cognates across the Semitic languages, including Hebrew and Aramaic.
