Μωρή is the feminine form of the ancient Greek adjective μωρός, meaning foolish or dull. The origin of μωρός is not settled. Beekes argues it may come from a pre-Greek substrate word rather than an inherited Indo-European root, so no reliable root can be reconstructed. English borrowed the word directly in 1910, when psychologists coined 'moron' from μωρός to label a category of intelligence.
