Etymology

Romanian borrowed "cool" directly from English slang in the late twentieth century, along with many other youth-culture terms. English "cool" in this sense grew out of the older, literal meaning of temperature, extended metaphorically to describe a calm, detached, admirable manner. Romanian kept the English spelling and pronunciation, and the word never adapted to native adjective endings. It functions today as an invariable adjective, the same in all genders and numbers.
