Etymology
Ανεβάζω is the causative counterpart of ανεβαίνω, "to go up," itself built from the prefix ανά- ("up, upward") and the ancient verb βαίνω ("to step, to go"). Where ανεβαίνω describes something going up on its own, ανεβάζω describes making something go up: lifting it, carrying it upward, or, in modern usage, sending a file up to a server. The core verbal element βαίνω traces back to a Proto-Indo-European root for motion on foot.
